July 2003 - This summer the Vodafone live! Arcade will
be hosting the world’s first ever Mobile Games Championship.
The
mobile phone is fast becoming the UK’s most played and
most popular games platform as there are no barriers
to who can play or where. In fact, according to industry
analysts Screen Digest, the UK mobile games market will
be worth over £50m in 2003, a figure which will quadruple
to £211m by 2006.
The
Vodafone live! Arcade takes mobile games on tour to
ten cities to find the country’s best mobile gamers.
The winners of these regional competitions will then
be invited to a national final in London where they’ll
compete for the title of UK Mobile Games Champion.
The
events, which will be hosted by Aleks Krotoski, the
star of Channel 4’s Bits and Thumb Bandits, will give
the public a chance to experience this rapidly developing
phenomenon for themselves while playing some of the
world’s best mobile games. For further information on
the event, please go to www.vodafone.co.uk/livearcade
Prizes:
The ten regional winners will take away £700 worth of
mobile games goodies, including two Sharp GX-10is, while
the national winner will also win a luxury holiday in
Ibiza. Every entrant to the championship also receives
a £20 mobile discount voucher.
