Mobile Games BAFTA awards [Back to News Reports]

19th November 2003 - Nominations for the 2003 BAFTA Mobile Games award can be found below and these include games from Nokia, Airplay, Digital Bridges, Cybiko and many more.

Weakest Link Digital Bridges

There are six games short listed above and these have contested against many leading games developers from around the world.

"Super Yum Yum" is one of the nominees and this was developed by Airplay as their first game and entry into the mobile games arena.

Airplay co-founder and "Super Yum Yum" designer Ian Masters said "It is a great honour being nominated for such a prestigious awards. It is wonderful to be recognised in this way for the dedication and effort that our talented team have put into making this game what it is".

The game is a character based puzzle game which is available for most colour J2ME enabled mobile handsets.

Other nominees include a FIFA Football 2004 game and the Weakest link game from Digital Bridges which is a leading developer of Mobile games.

This year the awards are to be split into two separate ceremonies. The BAFTA Interactive Awards will focus on a broad spectrum of the new media industry, including DVD, websites, education etc. Whereas the BAFTA Games Awards ceremony will focus purely on the games industry.

The result was the creation of the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards. With the support of Lord Puttnam, Vice-President of BAFTA, the event has quickly grown into what is considered to be the world's largest and most prestigious interactive entertainment awards, recognising and rewarding creative talent in interactivity.
