5th December 2003 - T-Mobile has become the first European
operator to launch an incoming ringtones service, allowing
users to personalise the ringtone callers hear when
they dial a number.
Caller Tunes personalises your phone service by playing
your choice of music to callers (over the standard 'ring-ring'),
while they're waiting for you to answer. Choose from
a wide range of chart hits and old favourites; all actual
recordings by original artists.
You can simply call 454545 or visit www.t-mobile.co.uk/callertunes
to order tunes for your mobile.
Incoming ringtones have already become extremely popular
in Korea, China and Japan, providing operators with
a new revenue stream.
Each new Caller Tune costs £1.50. You also pay £1 per
month for the service, added to your bill (pay monthly
and Mix It customers), or deducted from your credit
(pay as you go customers).
The ringtone downloads market is already one of the
most lucrative value-added services for network operators
and incoming ringtones promise new growth by allowing
users to choose separate ringtones for the calling party
and their own handset.
The service is being provided by T-Mobile in association
with Universal Mobile who are a ringtone provider.
The TV advertising campaign for T-Mobile is planned
to be launched by the Godfather of Soul James Brown
and could include his famous tune "I feel Good".
