20 January 2004 - Alcatel announced that MobiTai, a
leading operator in Taiwan, selected Alcatel to provide
its end-to-end Personalized Ring Back Tone (PRBT) solution,
and started a Ring Back Tone commercial service in Taiwan
in December 2003.
Personal ring back tone is becoming very popular in
Asia, in particular in Korea, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.
This new service allows callers to hear music or audio
instead of a dial tone as they wait for the receiver
to answer, bringing subscribers and callers personalization
and fun. Building upon these standard features, the
Alcatel's Personalized Ring Back Tone solution includes
professional network adaptation, sound management and
the workflow engine to manage the multi-content providers'
contents.
The Alcatel's innovative "background music" feature
enables the user to select a background music to suit
the mood of conversation without interrupting a conversation,
while the PRBT "Music Box" feature is a set of ring
back tones (a combo play-list) that can be played randomly.
Moreover, the subscribers are free to provision the
ring back tone, the background music and the combo play-list
according to his/her specified date-time and group combination.
These innovative features can hence happily surprise
calling parties with continuously renewed tones at different
times when they call.
Alcatel's advanced PRBT solutions are particularly
valuable to operators because it can integrate seamlessly
with legacy back-end systems to provide a unified service
provisioning for all kinds of access channels. The new
solution also consists of a full-featured content management
system (CMS) that provides operators with a comprehensive
database and content management capability.

their innovation in mobile application services. The
Personalized Ring Back Tone offers additional functionality
for our users that was unavailable before, such as the
background music- which we offer as the only operator
in Taiwan- and the extensive "music box" selection.
