| 25th March 2004 - Radioplan, a leading supplier of
radio wave propagation modelling software, today announced
that the latest version of their popular RF prediction
software, RPS 5.2, has set a new processing benchmark
for ray tracing radio wave propagation modelling tools.
By introducing hybrid simulation modelling - the ability
to process multiple radio wave propagation algorithms
for the same scenario in parallel - and a massively
improved processing capability using 2.5D modelling
in a parallel processing architecture, Radioplans
RPS 5.2 boosts simulation performance to a level never
before seen in a ray tracing propagation simulator.
Dietrich Hunold, Radioplans Technical Director
said RPS 5.2 delivers a new degree of radio wave
propagation prediction performance and accuracy. Typically
ray tracing programs take a long time to achieve the
desired accuracy. But by designing the software to allow
parallel processing, weve achieved an order of
magnitude gain in processing performance. Additionally,
by incorporating many realistic modelling features,
and user control of the accuracy required, we have allowed
accuracy levels to be greatly improved
Radioplans RPS 5.2 simulates the interactions
between radio transmissions and the physical features
of the real world. RF field strength and coverage prediction
maps generated by the simulator show the effects of
placing antennas in selected physical locations.
RPS 5.2 is a fully-featured radio propagation modelling
tool that allows radio field strength prediction and
channel determination in the micro- and mm-wavelengths
(300 MHz to 300 GHz) using built-in ray tracing and
empirical prediction models. It is particularly suitable
for modelling complicated indoor (in-site) environments,
and has been used to great effect in recent projects
in Asia and Europe.
Additional new features of RPS 5.2 include:
- Unrestricted orientation of polygons with full 3D
freedom
- User controllable reflection/diffraction/penetration
limits
- Accurate results for propagation effects based on
material properties
- New easy-to-use environment editor
RPS is available as a Professional edition for smaller
organizations, or as an Enterprise application for larger
workgroups running in client-server configurations.
A demonstration version of the software can be downloaded
from the companys website, www.radioplan.com.
