20th April 2004 - Today Nokia introduced the new Nokia
6610i mobile phone, featuring an integrated camera,
complete MMS functionality and an FM radio. The Nokia
6610i triband mobile phone (GSM 900/1800/1900) offers
a classic design, color screen and a solid set of features
including Java(TM) technology, an XHTML browser and
SyncML. Comfortably styled in a familiar design, the
Nokia 6610i is estimated to begin shipping in Europe,
Middle East, Africa and Asia in the second quarter of
2004.
"Today's professionals require a reliable mobile phone
for both their private and work life. The Nokia 6610i
combines up-to-date technologies and MMS capability
with a classic design, making it an ideal companion
throughout the day," says Aage Snorgaard, Vice President,
Broad Appeal Business Line, Mobile Phones, Nokia. "While
technologies such as Java and SyncML help keep up with
work life demands, the integrated camera allows consumers
to share personal impressions with others on the spot.
The Nokia 6610i phone bridges professional and private
usage in a new way."
The integrated CIF camera in the Nokia 6610i phone
is optimized for color screens (128 x 128 pixel display)
of smaller handsets. With imaging and MMS functionality,
users can send and receive multimedia messages to other
compatible MMS-enabled phones. It also permits users
to edit images and to attach images to contact information.
The integrated XHTML browser included on the Nokia 6610i
provides an online experience with enhanced colors and
graphics.
Java technology allows users to download personalized
third party applications such as TimeOut City Guides
and Cosmopolite Business Guides for facts about countries,
and a Financial Times news application for keeping up
with the latest business news*. These applications and
more are all available for the Nokia 6610i from www.nokia.com/shop.
SyncML support enables data from the owner's compatible
calendar, address book and to-do lists to be synchronized
over the air, making it possible to keep up to date
while on the move.
Polyphonic ringtones and an integrated stereo FM radio
offer a high-quality sound experience, while an integrated
handsfree speaker enables impromptu meetings while being
away from the office. The Nokia 6610i also supports
OMA Digital Rights Management version 1.0.
Weighing 87 grams, the Nokia 6610i has a talk time
of up to 3,5 hours and a standby time of up to 18 days.
The available colors for the standard sales packages
will be grey, black and dark blue in Europe, Middle
East, and Africa. In Asian markets the Nokia 6610i will
be available in grey and dark blue.
The Nokia 6610i phone is compatible with several enhancements
such as the recently introduced Nokia Headrest Handsfree
BHF-3, which can be mounted on the headrest bars of
a car's front seat. The Nokia Headrest Handsfree is
a convenient basic headrest handsfree with built-in
microphone, speaker and detachable headrest unit.
