26th May 2004 - PT INDOSAT, one of the biggest Indonesian
operators has selected Ericsson to seamlessly integrate
their two GSM networks, as well as expand network capacity
and improve quality within Jakarta - Indonesia, and
surrounding areas. The contract has a value of USD 120
million. As the telecom solutions partner, Ericsson
is delivering the total deployment project.
Ericsson's expertise in network design, deployment
and network integration will assist the process of transition
into multimedia services through EDGE technology. In
line with this project, Ericsson also provides high-level
support and lifecycle management services.
In this turn-key project, Ericsson will supply infrastructure
products, including upgrade of the core network, radio
access and transmission equipment, as well as managing,
implementing and optimizing the Indosat's cellular network
integration.
