15th June 2004 - Ericsson has signed a managed services
contract with Telefónica Móvil Chile. The contracts
include integration, implementation and hosting of Telefónica
Móvil's mobile portal, and sourcing and distribution
of content. Ericsson is responsible for round-the-clock
operation and maintenance of the hosted solution.
"These agreements makes it possible for Telefónica
Móvil to offer attractive content, applications and
games to our mobile customers in a fast, cost-efficient
and easy way, which is key to our success when launching
richer consumer services," says Gustavo Marambio, Director
of Technology and Services of Telefónica Móvil Chile.
Through the content and applications partners of Ericsson
Mobility World, Telefónica Móvil will gain access to
a wide range of competitive local and global content,
such as java games, polyphonic ring tones and animations.
"We are pleased to confirm our position in the global
mobile content industry as well as in Latin America,"
said Johan Wibergh, Vice President of Sales, Global
Services at Ericsson. "We see an increasing move taken
by operators toward managed services, as a means for
cost efficient and fast implementation of new services
to their customers."
