23rd July 2004 - Nokia has won a contract with Hotwire
Communications in the United States, to supply its IP
DSLAM platform for broadband connectivity and a triple
play of bundled services, including voice, video and
data over DSL. Deliveries and network implementation
have already begun and are expected to continue through
to 2005.
The deal covers the supply of the Nokia D500 IP DSLAM
(Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) solution,
which delivers integrated IP functionality unlike any
other IP DSLAM in the broadband industry. The Nokia
solution, including related support services, brings
unrivalled benefits for operators, for not only fast
Internet services, but is also ideal for bringing multimedia
service delivering capacity including voice and video.
It will also include ADSL2+ features for enhanced bandwidth.
Hotwire Communications is a privately held BLEC (Building
Local Exchange Carrier) based in Philadelphia, PA, serving
the Philadelphia, New York, DC and New Jersey regions.
The company specializes in providing DSL, cable and
voice services for multiple apartment complexes.
