European companies behind CommunicAsia’s growth [Back to News Reports]

12th October 2004 - European participation at CommunicAsia has grown by 30% over the past decade – a reflection that strong European support remains a critical factor behind the success of Asia’s largest communications and IT trade exhibition.

This year’s event took place from June 15-17 at the Singapore Expo. Over 1300 companies and 45,000 business professionals gathered to network, exchange ideas and form business deals.

More than 170 European companies were present at the event which also hosted national pavilions from Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Ireland, Sweden and United Kingdom.

“In the past decade, we have seen consistent support from United Kingdom, German and Irish companies. In recent years, we are seeing more participation from Belgium, France, Sweden, Italy and several other up and coming Eastern European nations,” said Mr Alun Jones, director of London-based Overseas Exhibition Services (OES). OES is the worldwide associate of organizer Singapore Exhibition Services.

The North American contingent at CommunicAsia2004 saw 120 companies – signaling a show of commitment from United States and Canadian companies to reach Asia through CommunicAsia.

“Both European and North American companies see the event as an ideal platform to tap into the fast growing and vibrant Asian market place,” added Mr Jones.

Several established European industry leaders such as Ericsson, Siemens, Racal Antennas, IPM International and Urmet Spa have been with CommunicAsia for the past eight shows.

"CommunicAsia has been one of the most important exhibitions in telecommunication and network engineering in Asia for the last 10 years of Siemens Communications. As a consequence thereof we are able to address all our customers and potential buyers of south east Asia and the pacific area and are therefore able to introduce our various portfolio of innovative products, solutions and services," said Mr Christian Trieflinger, Project Manager Fairs and Exhibitions for Siemens AG.

CommunicAsia has grown to become Asia’s premier event serving the communications and IT industry through the last 15 editions. Since it began in 1979 with 220 companies, the event has grown more than six fold.

CommunicAsia has evolved to stay relevant to industry needs while providing a thought leadership platform and gateway into Asia’s info-communications technology industry. The event features sub-shows in networks, satellite communications and mobile communications. EnterpriseIT, an event showcasing enterprise technologies, grew out of CommunicAsia to meet the growing business demands for technology infrastructure.
