18th October 2004 - Nokia today announced that it is
providing N-Gage game decks and N-Gage games to support
the effort to break the world record for continuous
gaming. The event, organized in co-operation with Finnish
gaming channel Tilt-TV, takes place in the main display
window of Helsinki department store Stockmann. From
October 18 to 30, six gamers will engage in continuous
24/7 game play in a dramatic attempt to break the world
record for continuous gaming.
The three male and three female gamers can play on any
of the three gaming platforms available: personal computer,
PlayStation2 or N-Gage game deck. In an interactive
twist, passers-by can take part in the record-breaking
event by using one of several available N-Gage game
decks to compete in FIFA Football 2005 against the gamers
in the window display via Bluetooth connection.
"It's great to be a part of this attempt to break
the world record for continuous gaming and to show off
FIFA Football 2005, one of our hot new titles for the
holiday season," said Pasi Pölönen, director,
Games Publishing, Nokia. "And with the Bluetooth
connection, people walking by on the street can take
part in a multiplayer game to help beat the record.
We're confident that anyone who tries multiplayer gaming
over Bluetooth connectivity will love the experience!
In addition, the N-Gage Arena offers a unique global
connected multiplayer community."
The world-record breaking event will use some of the
latest games by Electronic Arts, including FIFA Football
2005 for the N-Gage platform. Coming out this holiday
season, FIFA Football 2005 offers great multiplayer
gaming for up to four people. Through the N-Gage Arena,
FIFA Football 2005 players can compile a highlight reel
of their best goals and post them for everyone to see.
