22nd October 2004 - Marco De Benedetti, Chief Executive
Officer of TIM and Mauro Sentinelli, Managing Director,
have launched an out-and-out revolution in the name
of technological innovation: the third-generation services,
in operation since May have been enhanced with the new
potentialities of the "Combinational Services", which
offer customers the simultaneous use - during a telephone
conversation, of voice, photo, video and text facilities.

This evolution of the mobile telephony world
is becoming accessible to an ever-greater number
of users thanks to the use of the new range of
TIM Turbo handsets that the Company launched in
Italy in October through its own sales network.
In particular the "Combinational Services" become
fully operational through the NOKIA 6630, the
first Dual-Mode EDGE/UMTS handset on the Italian
market to enable a simple phone call to be transformed
into a multimedia experience. With NOKIA 6630
that uses not only the UMTS but also the EDGE
network it will be possible to converse and simultaneously
exchange photos, videos, messages and electronic
documents. In addition, the EDGE/UMTS handset
with the "See what I see" service, thanks to its
embedded videocamera, lets users video their surroundings
and show them directly to their friends and family.
In this way the cellphone annuls distance and
makes a telephone conversation ever more similar
to a personal conversation.

All of this is possible thanks to TIM's third-generation
network comprising an EDGE and a UMTS component: the
combination of both technologies enables TIM to repeat
for its multimedia applications the success recorded
in the introduction of the dual-band system as well
as to provide high-quality services both within and
outside buildings, on both networks without the customer
being able to perceive any difference between them.
TIM, moreover, has extended the range of TIM Turbo handsets.
The new UMTS handsets are the LG U8100, the LG U8150
and the Samsung Z107, while the newly arrived EDGE models
are the Nokia 3220, the Motorola V547, the LG A7150
and the Samsung D500E. The new range of TIM Turbo handsets
is accompanied by very attractive offers "to try
out" 3G services for both new and existing TIM
customers.
The new PC navigation card "ONDA EDGE Card N775"
is also part of the new offer to TIM dealers. This personal
computer card offers wireless navigation for downloading
and sending files at speeds of up to five-times higher
than GPRS (up until a maximum of 200 Kbit/s). The ONDA
N775 card moreover, is designed to operate on all possible
mobile radio transmission bands (850/900/1800/1900)
in order to navigate freely throughout the world.
The novelties continue with a revolution regarding
tariff offers, which is also addressed to the 3G world.
In order to target young people TIM has launched "TIM
Turbo Friends", a new offer that allows three friends
to participate free of charge in videocalls up until
a maximum of 1,500 minutes of traffic and to communicate
with MMS, photos and videos at very advantageous conditions.
The new "Maxxi TIM All Inclusive" designed
for mobile phone aficionados proposes, in a single solution,
a TIM Turbo handset, 2,000 minutes of traffic a month,
in addition to a large number of videocall, SMS, MMS,
minutes and megabyte of navigation internet via Wap
and Web, at very attractive prices.
