With 3G services already launched in Asia, Japan and
Europe, and now becoming available in cities throughout
the United States, consumers are individualizing their
mobile communications style with video-on-demand, Internet
radio, picture messaging, multimedia answering service,
and now two-way, real-time video powered by PacketVideo.
PacketVideo today announced its success with more than
50 handset design wins, and 10 million devices shipped
worldwide in 2004 with advanced multimedia features
powered by PacketVideo multimedia products. Based on
market research from analyst firms such as Strategy
Analytics and the ZelosGroup, this portion of the handset
market will grow fifteen times its current size within
five years. In fact, multimedia handsets are predicted
to comprise approximately 45 percent of the total handset
market by 2008, which bodes well for PacketVideo.
