Daydream has via its daughter company It's Alive
signed an agreement with mobile operator 3 to launch
the new game BotFghters 2. The agreement includes
3 in Sweden and Denmark. It's Alive is already developing
games for 3 UK, and Daydream is also operating multiplayer
games servers for 3 in Sweden, Austria and Denmark.
BotFighters 2 is a sequel of the earlier version
of the game that had great success among others in
Russia, generating up to one million SMS per week.
The new version now launching is an action oriented
roleplay game where thousands of players can meet
in the same game world, joining rebel groups fighting
against a corrupt global government in a future a
hundred years from now. The game is moved out on the
streets of the real world with the help of the mobile
location technology available in most mobile networks.
The display of the mobile phone is turned into a
radar screen showing the real world locations of your
enemies, in a world that is now suddenly filled with
dangers such as virtual booby traps and computer controlled
enemies that must be avoided when moving around in
the city. The game is downloaded from the mobile portal
of 3 and stored locally in the phone, and is then
automatically connecting via the mobile network to
an online game server where all players can interact.
A monthly subscription fee gives unlimited access
to play the game.
"BotFighters 2 is an exciting game concept, and with
its strong community elements it fits perfectly with
our Between Friends concept. We have also had great
success with our Find-A-Friend service, and this game
is a fun and natural next step on location based products.",
says Rikard Ljungman, Commercial Manager for Media
Services at 3.
