19th November 2004 - ip.access ltd, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of TTP Communications Plc, today announces
that its nanoGSM solution has been selected by BT
for a new service for Mobile Network Operators to
offer GSM in-building coverage.
The service offering to the Mobile Network Operators
is simple and cost-efficient as the nanoBTS
basestations use BTs world-class DSL infrastructure
for backhaul. Coupled with BTs expertise as
a managed network supplier, Mobile Network Operators
can offer a complete GSM corporate solution that supports
excellent coverage and extended capacity within corporate
offices and campus locations.
ip.access ground-breaking technology
complements our UK-wide DSL network, adding a new
IP-based managed solution which complements our growing
wireless services and solution portfolio, said
Ian Welham, General Manager, Wireless Services and
Solutions, BT Wholesale Markets.
Stephen Mallinson, managing director, ip.access,
added, This contract is an important milestone
in the widespread adoption of nanoGSM technology
and is further recognition of our strong belief in
using existing networks to deploy GSM in-building.
The ip.access nanoBTS is a GSM picocell basestation
that uses IP networks to deliver cellular voice and
data services, in the smallest and most cost-effective
package available today. Through the innovation of
using IP as the backhaul medium, the nanoBTS
provides coverage and capacity simply and efficiently.
The nanoBTS is part of the ip.access nanoGSM
solution, which allows network operators to boost
mobile phone coverage in previously hard-to-reach
areas, enabling new applications such as Wireless
Office.
