8th December 2004 - Nokia is establishing a new GSM/EDGE
test environment in India to support its operator customers
in this rapidly growing market. The investment further
enhances Nokia's capabilities to serve its operator
customers, underscoring Nokia's commitment to India
and its millions of GSM subscribers.
The test environment, located in Networks office in
Gurgoan, India, comprises of Nokia GMS/EDGE radio equipment,
circuit and packet core equipment, SMS center and MMS
center, as well as a network management system. The
system will support Nokia's end-to-end customer care
by providing a fully functional testing and simulation
environment, and it will also be utilized extensively
in customer and partner training in India. The test
environment will be fully operational in January 2005.

operators in this growing market," says Mr. Ashish

Nokia. "Services is a growing business segment
for Nokia, and this investment is yet another concrete
example of our commitment to provide our customers with
comprehensive support."
During 2004, Nokia has won four major infrastructure
contracts in India, and is now supplying mobile infrastructure
to five of the largest operators in India. India is
one the world's fastest growing markets in terms of
mobile subscriber growth.
Nokia has an extensive portfolio of services, drawing
on its over 15 years' of experience in helping operators
to plan, deploy, integrate, train, maintain, operate
and optimize their networks and mobile services. Nokia
has contracted operating services for 21 operators globally,
in addition to providing full turnkey implementations
for a total of 26 customers in 22 countries. Nokia NetAct(TM)
service and network management system has been delivered
to over 300 customers, and Nokia has a record of over
60 mobile service management customers globally.
