"We are delighted to include the Sharp 902 as
part of our Vodafone live! offering. Since we presented
it in September, it has sparked enormous interest among
our customers. It is a handset that allows users to
take full advantage of the mobile communication and
entertainment possibilities on offer via the 3G network,"
says Paul Moonga, Director of Consumer Market at Vodafone
Sweden.
Mobile and camera in one
The Sharp 902 is designed with a swivel screen (180o),
which allows the user to use the handset like a regular
viewfinder when taking pictures. In addition to the
2-megapixel CCD camera, the Sharp 902 also has a 2x
optical zoom and auto focus - a feature unique to cameraphones
in the European market. Half-press the shutter for automatic
focus which gives you sharper pictures. The cameraphone
takes pictures in seven different sizes: from a maximum
of 1224x1632 pixels down to 120x160 pixels. For the
smallest size you can use the 20x digital zoom. You
can also set the camera to macro mode for close-ups
and the inbuilt lamp provides extra lighting for taking
pictures in darker environments. Pictures taken in the
largest sizes can easily be transferred to your computer
using the mobile's infrared, Bluetooth function, via
a USB cable or by simply switching the mobile's memory
card (SD card) to the computer's SD reader. The Sharp
902 comes with video cables for connecting to your television,
for viewing pictures and video recordings taken with
the mobile.
Cool scanner function
The Sharp 902 also has an inbuilt scanner function which
enables the camera to scan alphabetical text. This means
you can scan physical business cards for copying mobile
telephone numbers, URLs or e-mail addresses and copy
into the handset's address book or send them as an SMS.
The scanner function can handle up to 60 alphabetical
characters.
Adapted for a wide range of mobile entertainment
and communication services
The Sharp 902 is fully adapted for Vodafone live's 3G
services. This means, among other things, that users
can download full-length songs from Vodafone live's
music store and play them back directly on the mobile's
audio player via the enclosed stereo earphones or the
inbuilt stereo speaker system. The large, sharp colour
screen also allows you to view the latest ice-hockey
action from the Elitserien, or football highlights from
the Premier League. For those who like to communicate
in as many different ways as possible, the Sharp 902
has them all: video telephony, video MMS, MMS, postcard
services, SMS, e-mail, infra-red, Bluetooth and, yes,
even regular voice-based communication.
The Sharp 902 will be distributed to Vodafone's stores
and retailers from today.
