10th February 2005 - ip.access ltd, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of TTP Communications Plc (LSE:TTC), today
announces that it has signed a major new contract with
Eurotel Praha, spol. s r.o., the largest mobile operator
in the Czech Republic, to improve GSM in-building coverage
and capacity across its network. The agreement follows
a successful technical and commercial field trial of
ip.access nanoGSM technology.
The roll-out of the system ip.access first
deployment in the Czech Republic will enable
Eurotel to provide rapid, cost-effective and targeted
in-building coverage and capacity within key areas,
such as offices and shopping centres. Based on ip.access
nanoBTS picocell basestations, the solution will
deliver enhanced service quality to important segments
of Eurotels subscriber base, such as the corporate
sector.
The improvement to in-building coverage that
this solution delivers will make a major difference
to our customers, particularly our corporate subscribers,
who rely on their mobile phones as a vital business
tool. ip.access technology gives us a cost effective
way to extend our outdoor coverage levels indoors, mainly
to new buildings whose construction materials obstruct
signal penetration from outside, said Pavel Kolar,
Chief Technical Officer, Eurotel Praha, spol. s r.o..
Stephen Mallinson, managing director, ip.access, added,
This key deployment by a leading operator is further
proof that ip.access is uniquely placed to solve the
real challenge of delivering better coverage and increased
capacity in the indoor environment.
The ip.access nanoBTS is a GSM picocell basestation
that uses IP networks to deliver cellular voice and
data services, in the smallest and most cost-effective
package available today. Through the innovation of using
IP as the backhaul medium, the nanoBTS provides
coverage and capacity simply and efficiently. The nanoBTS
is part of the ip.access nanoGSM solution, which
allows network operators to boost mobile phone coverage
in previously hard-to-reach areas, enabling new applications
such as Wireless Office.
