Gemini Mobile Tech launched its 2nd generation MMSC and MMS Push Server [Back to News Reports]

15th February 2005 - Gemini Mobile Technologies announced today that it has launched its 2nd generation Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC) and MMS Push Server; the latest components of its HyperScale® Messaging Center.

The company’s patented HyperScale technology forms the foundation of all Gemini Mobile wireless data service infrastructure. This technology enables unlimited scalability by using specially designed clustering technology. The simple, yet powerful, architecture dramatically reduces the cost per message by applying patented techniques for optimizing off-the-shelf computing resources. This innovative architecture provides reliable, stable performance, allowing the operator to focus on growing revenues without added complexity.

“We are excited to introduce these two new stand alone or integrated components to our patented HyperScale Messaging Center,” said Scott Driggers, CEO of Gemini Mobile Technologies. “In fact, we are witnessing great success with Vodafone-Japan, which has deployed our MMSC. This is the industry’s largest commercially operational MMSC with a leading 3G operator. Our patented technology efficiently and reliably delivers messaging services to mobile users as volume increases, and simultaneously reduces capital and operating costs for wireless operators,” explained Driggers.

MMS & Wireless Data Growth:
Data services will become a major source of revenue for operators. Pricing will decline, as volumes and content sizes increase. Operators will be forced to deploy new cost effective solutions to realize the full potential of the wireless data medium.

HyperScale Messaging Center
The HyperScale Messaging Center is a multi-functional product which provides the revolutionary step to power the next-generation of wireless data service infrastructure. The Messaging Center is an integrated solution that delivers the ultimate flexibility for wireless operators, content providers and mobile users to devise, deploy, and use new and exciting data services. Operators will benefit from significant reductions in costs, while effectively addressing the growing demand for wireless data services.

The components of Gemini Mobile’s HyperScale Messaging Center include:

Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC):
The HyperScale MMSC provides mobile users and content providers with an enriched MMS environment, offering an efficient communication medium to access and distribute multimedia content.

MMS Push Server:
The HyperScale MMS Push Server was designed to assist wireless operators in meeting an ever increasing demand for application-to-person (A2P) content distribution in a cost effective and timely manner.

WAP Gateway:
The HyperScale WAP Gateway provides wireless operators with a network-based solution for adapting content and applications for access by a broad range of mobile handsets.

Push Proxy Gateway (PPG):
The HyperScale Push Proxy Gateway (PPG) supports flexible routing of push messages to mobile subscribers via Over-The-Air (OTA) protocols.

Short Messaging Service Center (SMSC):
The HyperScale-embedded SMSC integrates with Gemini Mobile’s messaging infrastructure components to support SMS notifications to subscribers directly over the SS7 network.
