Smartphone capable of running multiple mobile operating systems [Back to News Reports]

15th April 2005 - Singapore based company, Oswin Technology, is developing a new smartphone (Axia A108) capable of running multiple mobile operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows Mobile, Palm OS Cobalt (OS 6), and even other operating systems. Appraently, switching OS can only be done by sending the device to Oswin though. The Windows Mobile version will be first and should be released second quarter of this year.

Since the Palm OS switched to running on ARM-based processors, it’s been theoretically possible for the same device to run both the Palm OS and Windows Mobile. However, no company has ever tried to do this, until now.
