1st July 2005 - Mates Rates, which launches today in
the UK, offers T-Mobile pay as you go customers exceptionally
low calling and texting rates to other T-Mobile customers,
at any time of day. Unlike all other networks, who have
strings attached to low on-net calling rates, T-Mobile
will differentiate itself from the competition with
Mates Rates, by offering a low on-net rate straight
away.

New Mates Rates pay as you go brings you closer to your
friends
Customer research has shown that pay as you go customers feel
like third-rate citizens to contract and business and the
perception is that the networks do little to reward them.
Mates Rates will change this and will reward customers throughout
their lifecycle with permanently low on-net rates.
Mates Rates is targeted at young, cool customers who spend
a lot of time talking to their friends and family who are
also on T-Mobile. It offers 5p per minute on-net calls at
anytime as well as 5p per on-net text. In addition, customers
calling off-net, will be charged 40p per minute at anytime,
10p per text and 20 per minute to a fixed line.
Unlike the other networks, the 5p per minute call rate is
applied from the moment a customer switches to Mates Rates.
Vodafone, Orange, O2 and Virgin Mobile also offer 5p per minute
call rates, but these only apply after the first 3 or 5 minutes
of a call which are charged at a much higher rate.
New and existing pay as you go customers can switch to Mates
Rates by calling 146 FREE from their phone or by visiting
a T-Mobile Retail store. Customers purchasing a phone in Woolworths
or on the T-Mobile website will be able to purchase 2 handsets
pre-provisioned with Mates Rates. These will be the Nokia
3120 and the Sagem Myz-55
The Mates Rates heavy weight above the line campaign, including
TV, will start in August. Check out Messenger over the next
few weeks for further details.
