| 28th July 2005 - Psytechnics, the global leader in voice
and video quality assessment software for the telecom industry,
and Datamat a leading Italian provider of ICT solutions announce
a partnership to integrate Psytechnics products implementing
international standard into ANTS, the Datamat solution for Service
and Revenue Assurance.
As part of the partnership, Datamat will leverage Psytechnics
solutions for voice perceptual quality measurement, enabling
ANTS to provide customers with a comprehensive end-user experience
measurement and be able to improve the quality assurance process
on services operators provide.
Todays QoS management systems track many different
aspects of networks and services. The perceptual quality measurement
tools detect errors as they reach the end user and present
them as a single MOS value, which is a measure of quality
from a subjective view point. The Psytechnics products, integrated
within Datamat ANTS will enable the MOS metric to be generated
for voice services. This complements QoS management systems
by getting the end-user experience directly from the service,
either at the hand set or from within the network itself.
Perceptual quality measurement is a key component for
ANTS to complete its active testing capability, said
Stefano Orlandini, Director of Datamat Telco Division, and
we sought out in Psytechnics the best solutions available
in the marketplace. Together, we can help our customers to
guarantee high QoS standards in the highly dynamic scenario
of new and continuously evolving services, and assure the
pleasant end-user experience that makes services widely and
effectively used.
The technology is being adopted by Datamat because of market
demand on standard based quality measurement. Psytechnics
solutions adhere to International Telecommunications Union
(ITU) standards for quality measurement, including P.862 PESQ,
P.561 PSI - CCI and P.563.
"For carriers, good voice quality has long been the
most critical component affecting customer satisfaction,
said John Winchester, CEO of Psytechnics. As carriers
move over to 3G networks the concern for carriers is to maintain
the quality of voice services and to ensure that growing video
services are delivered to a high quality. This partnership
reflects Datamat is ready to capitalize upon this trend. "
Datamat and Psytechnics are also working on the integration
in ANTS of Psytechnics Video Agent, capable of accurate assessment
of the perceived quality of a variety of video and multimedia
services. Much like its voice quality measurement tools, the
Psytechnics Video Agent delivers Mean Opinion Scores (MOS)
and other diagnostic metrics consistent with ITU standards.
Using Psytechnics technology, Datamat will be able
to assess the quality of each individual video frame, including
measures for signal-to-noise, blurriness, jerkiness, skipped
or frozen frames, and other errors.
