12th September 2005 - T-Mobile USA is taking mobile
data to the next level and has made EDGE, Enhanced Data
for Global Evolution, available in all of its major,
regional markets. Customers who have EDGE-enabled devices
will now get up to four times faster data rates compared
to what they experienced on GPRS. The operator’s
field technicians and engineers across the country have
been working on this project for months and it has now
come to fruition thanks to their efforts. More than
90 percent of the network traffic handled with GPRS
is now EDGE-enabled.
T-Mobile currently offers two EDGE handsets, the Motorola
v330 and Nokia 3220, and will be delivering further
devices in the near future including an EDGE/W-LAN laptop
card.
