27th October - Optimus (Orange Portugal) is
the first operator in the Portuguese mobile market and seventh
operator in Europe to launch Tribes, a personalised search
engine of Portuguese and foreign sites via the Optimus Portal
brand "Portal Zone".
According to Fernanda Vasconcelos, Content Manager at Optimus:
"In addition to the characteristics of a search engine,
Tribes has additional functionality that permits its users
to classify the various types of contents being researched
by means of a coloured header, HOT or NOT , to move on to
other contents using the NEXT button, or to set preferences
via the pink button ."
Optimus went on to say: "This innovative service has
been hugely successful throughout Europe and has now arrived
in Portugal through Optimus, underlining the company's strategy
of pioneering the launch of innovative tools that greatly
enhance agility, mobility and optimise the time spent by each
client."
John Whelan Founder of alatto said "Orange Portugal
joins our other recent deployments of Tribes on seven other
operator portals in Europe including Telfort (Holland), Orange/Mobistar
(Belgium), and Telering (Austria). These deployments all launched
within the last 6 months have delivered on average a five
(sic) times increase in mobile data consumption"
