17th November - Telecomunicaciones Movilnet
in Venezuela has selected Ericsson as provider of its nationwide
ringback tone solution including end-to-end systems integration.
With Ericsson's Personalized Greeting Service, Movilnet becomes
one of the first operators in Latin America to make personalization
services available to its customers.
Ringback tones are songs or other sounds that
replace the standard tone callers hear as they wait for their
call to be answered. Such entertainment and personalization
services are highly popular with consumers around the world.
Since ringback tones are integrated into the network, operators
have complete control of the revenue stream while protecting
the music industry, which receives royalties through licensing
agreements.
Oscar Rojas, Country Manager of Ericsson Venezuela,
says: "Ericsson's ringback tone service is an opportunity
to deliver a personal touch, and this will create a new revenue
stream for operators. The contract also reaffirms our position
as an end-to-end solutions provider and systems integrator,
providing attractive, new consumer services."
Gustavo Antonetti, Vice President of Commercial
Operations, Movilnet, says that in a growing mobile market
the key priority is to satisfy user needs while maintaining
reliability through high-quality and attractive services.
"This new contract with Ericsson will allow us to lead the
way in Venezuela by allowing our subscribers to express their
individuality."
Ericsson has provided its Personalized Greeting
Service, including the ringback tone functionality, and content
management service, which includes distribution of all content
on the platform. Ericsson has performed end-to-end systems
integration, including evaluation and integration of third-party
products according to Movilnet's specific needs. The integrated
solution includes content and subscriber management software
and ringback application from NMS Communications (NASDAQ:
NMSS).
Personalized Greeting Service is part of Ericsson
Music Solutions, an end-to-end offering for consumer music
services, which includes content and the enabling functionality.
As networks and business models become more
complex, Ericsson supports operators in creating an efficient
environment for consumer service delivery through market-leading
network and systems integration. Ericsson provides solution
design, systems integration and solution management in complex
multi-vendor environments. The solutions include evaluation
and integration of third party products according to the specific
needs of each operator.
