23rd January 2006 - Tracking your mobile without any
new hardware or software. The new UK service called
World Tracker, you could now track the location of just
about any GSM mobile phones.
All you need is either a mobile phone, or a computer
with access to the internet. However, please refrain
from getting too excited yet. The World Tracker service
will cost 16p for every request made. Besides, a permission
from the owner must be granted during the first time
you try to track a phone.
The service promises to track a mobile phone accurately
between 50m to 500m. The accuracy might vary depending
on your telephone service provider. At the moment, World
Tracker is compatible with any handset working on the
four main UK Network providers - O2, Vodafone, Orange
and T-Mobile. In the near future, mobile phone users
in Germany, Spain, Norway and the US might be able to
use this tracking service as well.
