| 20th Febuary 2006 - T-Mobile flexed its global muscles when
it became the first UK mobile phone company to launch a flat
rate tariff for post-pay (contract) users of just 25p per minute
for mobile calls made throughout Ireland and also to the rest
of the world. The ‘World Class’ tariff will allow
T-Mobile UK users to make calls from Ireland or Northern Ireland
through the Meteor network, making it the most cost effective
and widest roaming tariff of any UK operators.
There is no charge for customers to enjoy the reduced rates.
All T-Mobile customers need to do is register for the World
Class service either on the T-Mobile website or by calling
customer services on 150 from their handset or 0845 412 5000
from landline.
Colin Gibson, Head of Business Sales T-Mobile Northern Ireland
said: "The World Class tariff is a direct response to
the needs of T-Mobile customers in Northern Ireland. The T-Mobile
World Class tariff is not only the most cost effective roaming
solution of any UK Mobile phone operators, it is also free
to all T-Mobile customers. We wanted to provide a simple,
transparent offering for our UK customers who travel throughout
Ireland and at 25p per minute for calls made to Northern Ireland,
the rest of the UK or in fact anywhere in the world, it doesn’t
get any more transparent."
T-Mobile UK Director of Business Sales, Simon Ainslie, added:
"It is vital that we provide a seamless service that
allows people to travel across borders without worrying about
the bill they will return to.
"We have been working with DETI for some time now to
develop an initial roaming solution to what is a major issue
for many of our Northern Irish customers. This tariff is not
just a first step to providing a better deal for T-Mobile
UK customers making calls throughout Ireland but also globally."
