2nd September - T-Mobile Germany showcased new handsets including
the two webnwalk devices - MDA Vario II and Samsung
SGH-Z560, the first two HSDPA-capable handsets from T-Mobile.
HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) accelerates the
speed of Internet access to up to 1.8 megabits per second.
Three other new webnwalk phones - Nokia N73, Sony
Ericsson K800i and Samsung SGH-D900 - also cope with high-speed
Internet surfing. Nokia N73 and Sony Ericsson K800i provide
extensive photo and video features that include a 3 megapixel
camera, and are suited to MobileTV usage. Optimal phones for
receiving TV content are the compact Sony Ericsson M600i and
Nokia 6233 UMTS cell phones.
Cell phones with HSDPA and EDGE
With MDA Vario II and Samsung SGH-Z560, T-Mobile offers compact
handsets that combine fast Internet with data links via HSDPA
and EDGE (EDGE, Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution). In
the case of the Samsung SGH-Z560 phone, the innovative technology
is accommodated in a lean, flat case measuring only 16 millimeters.
Other features include a 2 megapixel autofocus camera, external
buttons for music player operation and a 262,000-color display.
The Samsung SGH-Z560 is the second HSDPA handset in T-Mobiles
portfolio. Its frontrunner is the recently launched MDA Vario
II, which supports W-LAN (Wireless Local Area Network) in
addition to HSDPA and EDGE. Thanks to its maxi color display
and a full keyboard, MDA Vario II is ideal for searches in
the Web as well as for answering e mails. Based on the Windows
Mobile 5.0 operating system, the device offers various Office
Mobile applications such as Pocket Outlook, Word Mobile and
PowerPoint Mobile.

More mobile phones for webnwalk and MobileTV
Over and above these two handsets, T-Mobile is further expanding
its webnwalk phone offer with Nokia N73, Sony
Ericsson K800i and Samsung SGH-D900. Nokia N73 and Sony Ericsson
K800i both have 3.2-megapixel cameras for high-resolution
photos. The camera optics on the Nokia phone come from Carl
Zeiss. The phone also has features such as an image stabilizer
to prevent blurred photos, continuous mode (K800i) and a slideshow
function with 3D sound effects (N73). Both phones can also
be used as high-quality music players and for mobile video
telephony via UMTS. Customers who cannot do without their
TVs when on the road can use the MobileTV service from T-Mobile
on both devices. The Samsung SGH-D900 slider phone enables
fast Internet access via EDGE and has a 3.1 megapixel autofocus
camera.
One cell phone with a large display despite its small dimensions
is also highly suited to mobile television, the Sony Ericsson
M600i device. As a webnwalk phone, it permits
fast data access to the Internet and allows users to make
phone calls at the same time. E-mails with attachments can
be received, displayed, edited and dispatched. If required,
the BlackBerry® push service will guarantee very fast,
convenient e-mail communications. Mobile TV and webnwalk
in pocket format are also features of the Nokia 6233 handset.
The phones acoustic trademark is its high quality surround
sound output via the integrated stereo loudspeakers.
