| 8th November 2006 - NEC UK has invested in a dynamic new
team to take on the challenges operators are facing from shrinking
revenues from their traditional revenue streams, the strategic
complexities of convergence and maximising the opportunities
from 3G in the UK.
The new organisation in the Mobile Network Solutions Division
(MNSD) is designed to match the ongoing market requirement
for a European-based solutions focus - not just on hardware
- but also proven innovative solutions and services.
The move has seen the development of a senior team focused
on dedicated account management, new opportunity development
and portfolio sales. The account management team will look
after all major accounts, while new opportunity development
will look at business development and portfolio sales will
focus on developing NEC solutions and selling to existing
accounts and new prospects.
This is an exciting step forward for the NEC UK division
which has a strong pedigree for delivering highly complex
projects efficiently with its broad range of capabilities
from delivery and installation, to project management and
support services. The division was responsible for the 3G
Network for 3UK and 3Ireland where they delivered one of the
fastest network roll-outs ever seen, delivering more than
150 sites in a week. NEC UK has delivered O2s Mobile
Internet Platform for i-mode, equipment provision for NTLs
DWDM platform, trunk radio for the UKs largest telecommunications
company and Pasolink Microwave Radio for multiple customers,
amongst many other successful deployments.
As we step up our reach into the UK market through
the dedicated team, NEC UK builds on a proven track record
of its implementations in this country and sets the standard
for others who are still talking about delivering solutions,
said Kevin Buckley, Director of MNSD for NEC UK.
With a new team in place, we will enhance our UK position
in NGN by developing NECs leading products as customer
solution portfolios. In addition, we will be able to provide
the UK market with early access to information and solutions
based on the latest developments in the East through direct
access to our leading-edge Japanese operation.
