| 21st November - Tokyo-based Beat
Communication announced it will participate in OpenSocial, a programming model
developed by Google announced on November 1st 2007. Beat Communication is the
largest provider of public and corporate social networking packages in Japan. The
Google OpenSocial initiative gives all developers standardised code so that they
can develop one application, and then make it available on multiple sites. OpenSocial
is supported by site owners of social networking systems, and developers, who
will offer applications to site owners. Using OpenSocial, developers will
be able to have access to several social networking systems at the same time,
and will have less work load since they do not need to create programs for each
social network. It will also be easier for social networking system providers
to have access to new applications. "Beat Communication is looking
forward to exciting application features that will be provided in the future,
and will adapt these features, deciding which social networking services would
best fit customer needs," said Ryo Murai, President of Beat Communication.
"We will support trends that will bring international standards to social
networking services around the world such as OpenID and OpenSocial. We hope OpenSocial
will bring faster innovation to the world of social networking, and look forward
to being part of that innovation in Japan." Beat Communication builds
social networking packages in JAVA and is one of the few social networking service
developers in Japan to have cleared the stress test. The company is the first
in Japan to build intra-corporate social networking service applications for enterprises
with thousands of employees, and has developed social networking services for
NTT Data, NTT East, Nikkei Business Publications, Sompo JAPAN Insuranse, SBI Holdings
and many other listed and non-listed companies in Japan. About OpenSocial
OpenSocial
is a set of common APIs, launched on November 1 by Google, for building social
applications on the web. Common APIs mean that developers only have to learn once
in order to start building social applications for multiple websites, and any
website will be able to implement OpenSocial and host social applications. OpenSocial
will bring more powerful and pervasive social capabilities to the web because
developers will be able to develop and distribute their applications more easily.
Users will be able to enjoy new social features faster and in more of the websites,
web applications, and social networks they use. More information is available
