| 30th November - The European Patent
Office granted ThinPrint GmbH a patent (EP 1 407 369 B1) concerning a procedure
for print output for mobile devices. The core of the procedure is the fact that
the print job is not generated on the mobile device but on an appropriate server,
while the print output still occurs via the mobile device. This patented
technology is used with Cortado Enterprise (www.cortado.com/enterprise) and Cortado
Online Services (www.cortado.com). Cortado is the division of ThinPrint specializing
in mobile solutions. The ThinPrint technology supports Blackberry, Nokia, and
Windows Mobile devices and allows documents to be printed to any printer via infrared
or Bluetooth. "In the beginning, it was an even bet on which approach
would prevail technologically: the development of local print systems for each
end device, or our server-based approach, which can be used with almost every
mobile device and also supports all current printer models," says Carsten
Mickeleit, Managing Director at ThinPrint GmbH. " The fact that local systems
have so far remained very limited clearly demonstrates that our server-based method
was the right one, as our customer base shows So were delighted that ThinPrint
has now been recognized as the inventor and legitimate owner of the mobile server-based
print system. The patent is an important component of our strategic patent portfolio
and, at the same time, a recognition of our large investments in research and
development." ThinPrint GmbH ThinPrint specializes in mobile enterprise
solutions and printing in distributed network architectures. The company's success
is based on its print management solution, ThinPrint .print, which is successfully
employed in companies of all sizes in all sectors around the globe. More than
500 major distributors and resellers in over 80 countries sell products made by
ThinPrint GmbH. Thanks to numerous partnerships, client components using patent-pending
.print technology have been integrated into the terminals, printboxes, PDAs and
mobile phones of several leading hardware producers. A special role is played
here by strategic partnerships with BlackBerry® (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM), Bluetooth
SIG, Citrix Systems, Inc., Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Lexmark International, Inc.,
