| 22nd December - It’s time
to hang up the compass and the paper maps; Northpoint Systems is offering an application
for your mobile phone called Fugawi Touratel. The GPS-based application includes
USGS topographical maps in addition to air photos and urban photos. Now, you just
need your mobile phone to hike trails, climb mountains, and explore the backwoods
to keep track of where you are. Fugawi Touratel is available for US$2.99
a month. The application is complimented by a free website called Tourtel.com,
which offers access to free U.S. topographical maps and even allows you to print
the maps for free. In addition to topographical maps and air photos, Google Maps
are also available. If you love the outdoors and are a subscriber to Alltel,
Sprint, or Boost Mobile, then $2.99 a month may be a small fee to pay to enjoy
the outdoors while also being able to keep track of where you are. Thats
even more important now that its winter. Even if you dont have a compatible
wireless carrier or phone, then you can still take advantage of the Tourtel.com
website to prepare for your trip by printing maps for free. Read more from
the Tourtel.com website and
the WHERE website. Back
